The History

The Practice has been in existence for over 20 years, since 9th of August 1991.

Initially it was based in Linlithgow (as Linlithgow Physiotherapy Practice). However, in 2001, due to increased demand, we expanded into larger premises at our present address and changed our name to ‘Thomson Therapy’.

Helen Thomson set up the practice whilst pursuing an intensive post-graduate programme of study abroad. This was driven by the fact that techniques on offer in this country did not meet the requirements of the patient groups.

Thomson Therapy’s success over the last 20 years is a credit to the clinicians’ commitment to the needs of the patients, and to continued study and evaluation of the most effective techniques available. The advanced clinical skills allow accurate, efficient and speedy treatment.

The Clinicians

All Physiotherapists are qualified Senior Chartered Physiotherapists using a variety of clinical techniques and are constantly reviewing, adapting, researching and updating their clinical skills.

The Clinicians practicing in Thomson Therapy specialise in conditions arising as a result of body asymmetry and the subsequent adaptations and changes that the skeleton has to make in order to allow the individual to function efficiently.

There are 5 Chartered Physiotherapists working within the clinic who have all been trained to the same level of expertise in order to maintain standards set by the practice.

The physiotherapy clinicians come from a broad spectrum giving a wide range of experience and knowledge to their clinical skills. The physiotherapists all originate from an NHS background, some having specialised in A&E trauma, elite sports injury clinics, professional Premier Division football and women’s health.
